FAQ

Questions patients often ask before visiting

What is insurance-covered scaling?

A procedure that removes plaque and tartar to prevent and treat oral disease. You can care for your mouth using National Health Insurance benefits.

Who is eligible?

Eligible: National Health Insurance subscribers aged 19 or over who qualify for scaling without follow-up treatment.

How many times a year is it covered by insurance?

Coverage is once a year, from January 1 to December 31 each year.

How much does it cost?

With insurance it is around KRW 10,000–19,000, and without insurance it is KRW 60,000. The exact amount may vary with your teeth, so we will confirm at reception.

If follow-up treatment is needed, is it not covered by insurance?

Only tartar removal without follow-up treatment qualifies for insurance-covered scaling. If follow-up treatment such as gum treatment is needed, it is handled as separate care.

Will my teeth feel sensitive after scaling?

You may feel brief sensitivity, but the procedure only removes tartar and does not grind the teeth. If you usually have sensitive teeth, let us know in advance and we will take it into account.

Is scaling different from gum treatment?

Yes, they are different. Scaling removes plaque and tartar from the tooth surface, while gum treatment (such as periodontal curettage) is a separate treatment that goes below the gumline.

Is anesthesia used for scaling?

In most cases it is done without anesthesia. This may vary with your gum condition, so we will explain at consultation.

Is there anything to be careful about after scaling?

Right after the procedure you may have temporary sensitivity or bleeding. It is best to avoid spicy or irritating foods for a few days.

Can I come without an appointment?

On weekdays from 2 PM to 4 PM, you can walk in and we will check whether it is possible. At other times, we recommend booking.

Can I come just for scaling?

Yes, you can come just for scaling. If any other treatment is needed, we will explain it after the examination.

Can I have scaling and the national health screening together?

Yes, both can be done together. Let us know at reception that you would like both, and we will guide you through the order.

How long does scaling take?

It depends on your teeth and gums, so it is hard to give an exact time in advance. Routine tartar removal is usually relatively quick.

Will scaling make gaps between my teeth?

When tartar built up between teeth is removed, the original space simply becomes visible again; scaling does not grind teeth or push them apart.

Can I have whitening at the same time?

One-Day Whitening is a separate program. If there is tartar, it is often best to remove it before whitening, so we will advise you if needed.

Can I get scaling during evening hours?

Yes. On Mondays and Wednesdays we are open until 8:30 PM, so you can come after work.

Always together.
