Patient-Led All on X

Ahn Jung-hyun, Chief Director

Hello, I am Ahn Jung-hyun, Chief Director.

I believe All on X gives patients options in many ways. Some people find it hard to place many implants because of cost, and when bone loss is severe, the conventional approach can make the teeth look too long. Some people may also find it hard to wait through a long treatment period. With All on X, people with cost concerns can be treated with implants instead of dentures. For those who find major surgery or extensive bone grafting difficult due to age or other health reasons, the surgical area can be relatively reduced. And in some cases, the prosthesis can even recreate the shape of the gums for an aesthetic result. Throughout all of these decisions, we consider the patient's wishes and health and work to create a treatment plan suited to each patient.

Advantages of All on X

Eating is often difficult after implant treatment.
With All on X, temporary teeth are fitted within a few days of implant placement, so
it helps you regain the ability to eat after surgery, depending on your condition.

FAQ

Questions often asked before treatment

What exactly is All on X treatment?

A treatment that places a minimal number of implants in the firmer areas of the jawbone, reducing the burden of extensive bone grafting while restoring chewing function. It can be considered instead of dentures when most teeth are lost, restoring the entire upper or lower jaw at once with a small number of implants.

Is All on X a broader concept that includes All on 4 and All on 6?

No. The Chief Director explains All on X not as a broader concept that includes All on 4 and All on 6, but as treatments with their own separate concepts. How many implants to place is decided after examination, based on the amount and location of remaining bone.

In which cases can All on X be chosen?

It is an option when few teeth remain. Compared with placing several implants, it often involves a smaller surgical area and less bone grafting, which can be advantageous for older patients or those with systemic conditions.

Are there cases where you do not recommend All on X?

Yes. The cases in which we do not recommend All on X are the same as those in which we do not recommend implant surgery itself. We do not recommend it for people whose general health is not suitable for surgery, such as heavy smokers or drinkers or those with severe diabetes.

Why is All on X a smaller surgery than conventional implants?

Placing many implants when few teeth remain means a larger area of incision and bone grafting. Because All on X uses a minimal number of implants in carefully planned positions, the surgical area and amount of bone grafting are often relatively smaller in the same situation.

What is the difference between All on 4 and All on 6?

The difference is how many implants are used. After examining the amount and location of remaining bone and your bite force, we decide together which is right. The features of each method are explained in detail on the All on 4 and All on 6 pages.

Can older patients have All on X treatment?

Yes. Compared with placing many implants, it often involves a smaller surgical area and less bone grafting, which can be advantageous for older patients or those with systemic conditions. However, we do not recommend it if your general health is not suitable for surgery, so examination and consultation come first.

Is All on X also done in a patient-led way?

Yes. Patient-led care helps you choose treatment that fits your values based on sufficient information, and it applies equally to implants, All on X, MINISH and cavity treatment. We explain the diagnosis, our reasoning and the alternatives before you decide.

Which fixtures are used for All on X implants?

We use fixtures from three manufacturers—Dentis (SQ·AXEL), MegaGen (BD) and Straumann (BLT·BLX). Of these, MegaGen BD and Straumann BLT are our main systems, and which fixture suits you is decided through test results and consultation.

Can I follow the making of my All on X prosthesis through EROM Live?

Yes. EROM Live applies to all prostheses except MINISH, including All on X prostheses. We let you know which of the five steps—scanning, design, milling, sintering and glazing—your prosthesis is at, and we sometimes record the production and send it to you via KakaoTalk.

Are All on X prostheses also made in your in-house lab?

Yes. It is made in our in-house lab; the technician designs it, and the Chief Director personally checks and adjusts it. Because the process takes place in the clinic, we also share it through the EROM Live service.

Is there a warranty on All on X implants?

Yes. The implant warranty covers the fixture for 5 years and the abutment and crown for 2 years. Conditions: a check-up every 6 months; damage caused by the patient is repaired at cost; osseointegration failure caused by smoking is excluded.

Is All on X surgery very painful?

Swelling and pain after surgery depend on how much the periosteum under the gum is affected by incision and flap elevation. With good anesthesia, the procedure itself is usually not very painful, but how it feels varies with your bone condition and the extent of surgery, so we explain in detail at consultation.

How much does All on X treatment cost?

The cost varies with the number of implants, the type of fixture and test results. The exact cost is explained in consultation after an examination of your jawbone.

Which dentist handles All on X consultations?

Implants and All on X are handled by Chief Director Ahn Jung-hyun (2nd generation). At consultation, he shows and explains the condition of your teeth and jawbone using photos, X-rays and, if needed, Q-ray.

Why choose All on X instead of dentures?

Because it is a restoration method that reduces the discomfort of dentures while lightening the cost and surgical burden compared with placing several implants. However, it is not suitable for every case, so we judge suitability together after examination.

Always together.
